John Millman (@17.0) vs Rafael Nadal (@1.01)

Our Prediction:

Rafael Nadal will win

John Millman – Rafael Nadal Match Prediction | 23-08-2019

The idea is to try to make his game a little more aggressive, going forwards and avoiding moving back. Of course there are some players with a better serve or with more powerful shots, but if he is healthy he can play at a high intensity with few errors. He made five straight finals at Wimbledon. During the second week the court is worn out and you can move better. Uncle Toni: Weve been training quite well every day. For different reasons, Rafael hasnt been able to play well on grass in the past five years and he wants more than anything to be able to do that. He has won a 500-level tournament, two Masters 1000s and Roland Garros. Rafael has one thing better than everyone else, which is the intensity of his game. He thinks he can win again. There are a lot of changes if you make it through the first week, The bounce of the ball is much lower in the first week and the ball skids more. Not many players have done that. If the season were to end now it wouldnt be bad for us, it would be very good. We have always played better during the second week. Your shots cause less damage. When you win you have an important sense of calm. Every day he has played quite well with all his opponents. When his body allowed him, he was a very good grass-court player. On the grass the best points are three or four shots, so you have to be very aggressive with the serve and after the return. Its a little bit like the feeling he had at Roland Garros, He had gone three years without winning a Grand Slam title and he was hungry and extremely motivated to win another. He also has the peace of mind of having just won a Grand Slam.

He is playing better than ever in his career and is 7-1 on grass this year. I think that many of the early Rafa upsets were when he was not feeling 100%. Hi Jason, I have to admit that I am a little worried about Muller this year. This has been such a wonderful year so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will do well.

Millman has dropped outside of the top-100 after being a top-60 player a little over a year ago and was also battling a hip injury that knocked him out of the Brisbane International. Millman has never lost in the first round of the Wimbledon. Millman is simply trying to find his form, so Im sure hell take anything positive to come out of this match. John Millman has played just one match on the main tour this season, but he does have six grass court matches under his belt. Millman hopes to make the second round of a grand slam for the fourth time in his career.

You really make no sense, as I have said I was referring to on court .Im afraid all of What has happened and said to Rafa in 30 years are not contained in one book , that you like to harp on about time and time again. I dont need to know everything about Rafa to be a fan , and anything I want to know I can find on the net as you well know.

Nadals showdown against Millman will be his first competitive match on grass in two years. Nadal is pegged at+450to win his third Wimbledon title this year. That being said, its extremely hard to not see Nadal dominate his first-round opponent today.Other than having all the momentum on his side, the two-time Wimbledon champion has the overall advantage in experience, skill and power. The only thing that should worry the Spaniard slightly is the fact that he has yet to go head-to-head with Millman throughout his career.

This match will be a good test to see if Cilic has the controlled aggression and rally tolerance to beat a very solid player in Millman. When Cilic is off, he tends to become wild from the baseline and overhit, so this match will be a good barometer of where his level is heading towards the US Open. Cilic beat Millman in three sets in their only meeting on a hard court in Shenzhen. While Cilic looked decent in Washington and won in his first match in Montreal, given his struggles earlier this season, Im not convinced that he is quite at the level to beat Millman.

Then please let it be Djokovic (anything but the Weak Era King please, we need to protect the Nadal legacy) in the final. Muller never got passed round 3 of Wimbledon. Karlovic probably wont be there in R4 (he has only reached R4 in 2 out of 12 occasions). Istomin in R2 may be a threat. Cilic could be a real challenge, but Mount Murray is never a problem for an inform Nadal (if he reaches the SF, he will be in form). On paper this is one of the best draws Rafa could get. For sweet revenge and major 16.

Rafael Nadal vs. John Millman Preview

Given that Thiem has just traveled in to Montreal from Europe, its unknown whether he will be adequately prepared for this event. Shapovalov will have the crowd on his side in this match. Montreal is where Shapovalov beat del Potro and Nadal on his way to the semifinals of the Roger Cup a couple years ago, and he clearly likes these courts. Thiem won the only match between these two on the hard courts of Acapulco last season.

Hip problems have hampered Millmans 2017 season with the Australian plummeting down to 137th in the world rankings. He has played only one ATP-level match this year, losing in four sets to Roberto Bautista Agut in the opening round of the French Open. Yes, almost everyone is expecting the Aussie to lose in the opening round versus 15-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal, but the 28-year-old can look at this clash as a perfect opportunity to learn and enhance his experience. Millman followed that up with a trio of defeats in the second rounds of grass-court Challengers. Whatever happens today, John Millman ought to relish this moment.

Isner is so good on hard courts this time of year that its hard to pick against him. Garin will try to get as many of Isners serves back in play and dominate rallies. Isner will be looking to control the match with his big serve and huge forehands. While Garin did well to break his losing streak, beating Isner is a step too far for the Chilean. These two have never played before.

I am SO encouraged by the comments Ive just read. Rafael Nadal has always been my favorite player, owing to the passion with which he plays, the respect he has for his family, country and his opponents, and the truly admirable person he is as a consequence of the foregoing. I hope to see Rafas great smile as he lifts the cup at Wimbledon this year!!!!! VAMOS RAFA!!!!!
